Our Mission.

Founded in 1988, the Canadian Woodworking Machinery Distributors Association (CWMDA) is a trade association dedicated to advancing the sales and marketing of woodworking machinery in Canada both directly and through the distribution channel. The nine member companies represent the latest in manufacturing technology and machinery from leading manufacturers around the world.

These companies encompass the majority of sales of industrial woodworking machinery in Canada and serve as a vital link between machinery builders and the manufacturers of wood products who use the technology to increase their competitive standing in today’s domestic and world markets.

The CWMDA offers various programs and services to assist its members and support the Canadian woodworking industry.

Education.

CWMDA supports education for the industry through annual scholarship donations to the Conestoga College, the Centre for Advanced Wood Processing of the University of British Columbia (UBC), the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and the École Nationale du Meuble et de l’ Ébénisterie (ENME).

Member Services.

Working with members to better understand the needs of both member companies and their customers, the CWMDA is dedicated to the continuing success of the wood products manufacturing industry in Canada.

Industry Safety.

The CWMDA has supported efforts to harmonize the CE Norms, under which machinery is manufactured, installed and run, with those of Canadian ministries of labour, in an effort to ensure the proper installation and safe operation of machines in wood products manufacturing facilities.
